Looking for a way to combine your love of hiking with taking action to save the environment?
Then join the Rocky Mountain Chapter on Saturday, September 15, for our first annual “Step Strong, Save Our Lands Hike-A-Thon.”
We will be hiking the scenic trails of Roxborough State Park, which offers 4 levels of hiking experience for you to choose – from easy to challenging –with some spectacular views of red rock and sandstone formations along with diverse, dazzling flora and fauna. Do one or several trails – there is truly something for everyone of any level of skill or interest.
Also, to make your day complete, you can compete for awesome prizes such as a night’s stay at a mountain resort or bed and breakfast, zip-line adventure, outdoor gear, or passes to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. (Prizes will be awarded based on the amount of actual pledges received.) We will also be awarding multiple copies of the highly acclaimed book, Snowshoe Routes: Colorado’s Front Range, by Sierra Club’s own Alan Apt. More prize details to come in the August edition of Peak and Prairie and on the website.

WHAT: Step Strong, Save Our Lands Hike-A-Thon
WHEN: Saturday, September 15, 2012, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Roxborough State Park
HOW: Choose the trails and amount of hiking you want to do. Then use the pledge form to get donations or pledges for each mile you hike.
Cost: $25/participant. Additional $7 park pass fee required day of event at park pass station. Carpooling with fellow participants recommended to share cost of pass.
