What do you do when you want to go camping, but the one you love doesn’t want to rough it? Glamping is one way to compromise! Glamping (glamorous camping) is becoming more and more popular around the world. Large canvas tents, yurts, and cabins can be rented in beautiful Colorado locations.
The upscale accommodations usually include beds, tables, and chairs. They also may be heated, have running water, or even bathrooms. Some have electricity and wi-fi connections, and some are more rustic. Some places have bathrooms and possibly shower areas in a central location that can be shared among the guests. Many have a central lodge or restaurant in which to eat, or camp stoves or fire pits to cook your own food. They have beautiful views of Colorado scenery and still take you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
When you don’t need to worry about pitching a tent and cooking a meal, you have more time for other activities—staying at one of these places is not just about sleeping and eating! They are about enjoying Colorado activities! Depending on the location, time of year, and expense of the resorts, you may have access to: hiking, biking, horseback riding, 4-wheeling, trout fishing, hot springs, rafting, skiing, and even yoga and massage!
Though you can find accommodations for about the price of a mid-range hotel room, most of these resorts are quite expensive. Most people would consider glamping for a very special occasion. They would certainly be perfect for a honeymoon (or even a wedding!). The larger sites would be great for a family reunion—especially if there is a lodge that can feed a lot of people!
Glamping may also be a great way to introduce someone who is new to camping to the joy of the Colorado outdoors. Once a person gets to experience the clean mountain air, the sound of a soft breeze through pine trees, and the relaxation that comes from being away from it all, they may just decide that pitching a tent and bringing their own hot dogs sounds pretty good after all!
