Grant signed a proclamation admitting Colorado as a state.Colorado Day was celebrated as a state holiday on August 1 for many years, and then was moved to the first Monday in August.

Celebrate Colorado’s birthday in nature with free entrance to Colorado’s state parks on Monday, August 1. Park entrance fees are waived, but activities like fishing and camping will still require a valid license and permit.
